Laureato 8010 … 2-tone
May 02, 2024,14:15 PM
Make: Girard-Perregaux
Model: Laureato
Ref: 8010
Cal: 3100
Case Diameter: 36 mm
Thickness: 7.9 mm
Lug-to-lug: 44 mm
Release: 1995
Number of years in catalog: 5
Quantity made in this variant: 120 (approximately)
Trivia:
- First GP model selected to use the in-house cal 3100
- Designed by Luigi Macaluso, then CEO and owner of GP (Architect by training and a champion race car driver)
- This is the transition model that took the Laureato from quartz to mechanical in the year of its 20th anniversary.
I find this 2-tone pink gold and steel Laureato to be the epitome of Italian design flair.
With a solid gold bezel, links, applied indices and hands, the heft provides the wearer a reminder of its its presence with no apologies.
Yet, with its conservative size and slimness, it also speaks of a quiet confidence embedded in its elegant sporty charisma.
This is the one you wear at drinks after the polo match.
Why do I love GP Neo-vintage?
Hopefully, the pictures will speak for themselves.
❤️
As always, I look forward to your questions and comments.

It looks much thinner than your other models or is it just the angle of the camera?
Which other models are you referring to?

This 8010 laureato is 7.9 mm thick The 81005 laureato (38 mm is about 10.1 mm). Same for the 41 mm 81000 The 42 mm laureato is the thickest. So yes, the 8010 is the thinest mechanical laureato that exists. Thanks for your questions ☀️

There are two types of bracelets. Stiffer one and the more floppy one. This is the stiffer one. Seems ok for me. 10 ATM Screw down crown. Thanks for your questions ☀️
Yes, I agree with you.

I can’t say I super love any of the other production GPs. I’m not a big fan of the Absolute either. Pretty much like the classic laureato for the most part. I have not considered the 3 bridges and such as they are in a different price category and general...

There is usually a massive clock (usually an AP type wall clock on steroids) on the side of the pitch anyway.
I forgot to add Tritium dial to the list

of little extra notes. ATM 10 Screw down crown It still blows my mind that some folks chasing only production laureato at pretty steep MSRP while neo vintage pieces are still available on chrono24 and such. Same thing happened with the PP nautilus 3700, 3...

Yeah, the catalogs back in 1995 were a bit flat. They have some other nicer pics that I’ll share as well. The old catalogs and price lists are a gold mine. Many pieces are so rare and they were soooo expensive back then. If one knows.
